Power of the holy spirit

Do you have the Power?

As a new Chrisitan, you might not understand everything as you move forward in Christ. Just as I once was confused by all this being “saved” and “Holy Spirit” I would like to help you better understand so you too can grasp a little more about salvation. However, as you begin to search for God He will show up and help you; as the reason for this article.

                                           How to overcome this world

First off there are no steps in salvation because Jesus already took the first and ultimate step on the Cross; all we need to do is believe.

John 3:16“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”.

After you repent (asking for forgiveness of your sins) and believe on him with your whole heart (accept Him as your Lord and Saviour) and mean it… the results of salvation is being baptised in the water and being filled with His Holy Spirit. (You will want to pursue God more; being obedient to him by being baptised and being filled with the Spirit of God as He continues to draw you)

As we see in John 6:44 you were drawn to Him. "No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. John 6:44. Even Your faith is a gift from God. It is by Grace through faith that we are saved. (We all should be ecstatic that the Lord draws us to him or we would be doomed for hell)

Ephesians 2:8-9 says this: “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves:it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. (He loved us enough to die for us – nothing whatsoever we can do to save ourselves)

So, now that you believe in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour don’t stop pursuing Him because you need the Power of His Holy Spirit to enable you to fight the good fight and be a witness among the lost. You see without the Holy Spirit we are easily defeated by the enemy why? because we have no power to resist the devil. We alone cannot stand up to the wiles and schemes of the devil. We are limited without the Holy Spirit do to anything on our own to fight battles or even witness for the Lord. It is the POWER that we need as Christians to live for the Lord! Not to mention it is the WILL of God for us to be filled with His Spirit.

We need the Holy Spirit to know Jesus more as we should! Ephesians 5:18 it says “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;” Paul is commanding us to be filled with the Holy Spirit constantly minute by minute;  leaving no room for the enemy even by being drunk with alcohol to sneak in and make a move. It’s like putting your fists down in a fight or taking off your gloves knowing the opponent will take a punch at you. Having the Power of the Holy Spirit in you allows for Jesus to fight your battles for you.

James 4:7 tells us this “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you”. You can only resist him by the power of the Holy Spirit from submitting to God FIRST.

Baptism: we see the Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-19. These words are spoken by Jesus and the only formula given for being baptized.

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

Being Baptized (submerged) in the water represents death to sin, and emerging from the water represents the cleansed, holy life that follows salvation. Romans 6:4 puts it this way: “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”

So, now we know that after initial salvation one should be water baptised and filled with the gift of the Holy Spirt. Ask God to fill you with this gift; trust me He is ready and willing to fill you with his presence just ask him for it.

Acts 2:38 – Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

John 14:15 – If ye love me, keep my commandments. Once you submit to him with your whole heart its so easy to keep his commandments.

Matthew 15:8 – This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. Simply this verse says, don’t just talk the talk, rather walk the walk with the Lord. He knows your heart no matter what your lips say.

I don’t believe in the “once saved always saved” theory either because the scriptures clearly talk about names being blotted out of the book of life. Revelation 3:5. The Grace of God is not a license to sin. Romans 6:1

God will never walk away from you but rather, will you totally walk away from God and lose your salvation?

With all the turmoil and terrorism in the world today you don’t know when you might take your last breath, likewise, lose the chance to secure your salvation – Do it now while you can. Accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour this moment and let Him direct your paths going forward. Make it your goal to grow closer to him by seeking him through prayer, read the bible more, additionally asking him for revelation as you read. Sing praises to him. As He sees your hunger for Him, he will respond and guide you.

Like I said, time is not on our side here due to all the turmoil in the world, therefore, it’s important to keep his commandments. Once you truly surrender to him he will begin a work in you to reveal changes in your life that need to be made in order to line up with his commandments. With that being said, if you divulge in things like drugs, alcohol, cohabitating (living with someone outside of marriage) extramarital affairs, lying, cheating, stealing or whatever the case may be, once you truly submit to him and allow His will to be done in your life, and are born again then don’t be surprised when He reveals His word to you and start a work in you that ONLY HE can do! Trust me its all good! He is good at delivering us from the bondages that the devil keeps us down with. (all the bondages listed above and more) that can send a person straight to hell. However, God didn’t create hell for you! So it’s time to surrender and live on streets of gold in the Heavenly eternity that WAS created for you!

Reply at the bottom; I would love to hear from you 🙂
